Lovely lively pub. Within easy driving distance of Newhaven port. Didn't eat as arrived too late but welcomed by Gavin to stay overnight in the car park in our motorhome.
Food very good salmon cooked beautifully. Service excellent waitresses very helpful and changed food choice with no problems. Only issue it was very cold in the restaurant area where we were sitting.
We had a fabulous new year's eve dinner. The place was set out really well, the food was excellent and great quantity. Service was excellent especially considering the number of diners and the fact that there was only one sitting. I should say that my son and daughter both work at the Tavern and were both working on new years eve. My wife and I have come to know most of the staff and so might be considered a little biased. However, the fact is, the Tavern put on a wonderful evening of good food, wine, music, dancing, and above all, companionship. Generally speaking, the Tavern does a great job. It provides a reliable and comforting place for the local community, and a warm and welcoming place for visitors. What more could you ask for.
It's been a few years since we've eaten here. But once again two great meals & two starters, reasonably priced & great table service. Just the thing to brighten up a winters evening. Will be returning soon to try something else on a great menu.
We were a party of four who ordered three of the home made burgers and one sirloin steak. The burgers were absolutely delicious and the steak was extra tasty and tender. There is also a large selection of gluten free food which is very useful to lots of people. The wines and beer were also very good and all at a reasonable price. Service was also excellent and we decided that four stars was an appropriate mark. We will definitely return when we are next out in Telscombe.
